Mixed Predictions #3 – Special “Road to 2023”
This is a set of miscellaneous predictions about K-Pop, K-Dramas, Korean shows and possibly more as of December 25, 2022. This is a special edition titled “Road to 2023,” meaning that all predictions refer to events that could possibly happen in 2023.
- ITZY‘s next Japanese comeback might be a full length album2. Two or three former Trainee A members might debut together under another company3. BlockBerry Creative might make sure LOONA never release the supposed comeback and instead might either sell it or just give it to their possible new girl group4. The sub-unit MiSaMo might be official and debut in 2023. The unit Dahyun & Chaeyoung (who released their rendition of “Switch to me” as part of the Melody Project) might also become an official sub-unit5. The active MONSTA X members might enlist after their comeback in January. However, there might be chances that I.M doesn’t enlist in 20236. A rookie idol might become viral after being on King of Masked Singer7. BOM (MNH Entertainment’s boy group) might not sell more than 20-25k copies with their debut release and, as such, not taken seriously enough by both the company and the general public8. An actor or actress might have a surprise singing debut9. More artists under HOOK Entertainment might leave after what happened to Lee Seunggi10. The next comeback by EVERGLOW might put them back in track after over a year without music releases11. LIMELIGHT might add two or three members for their official debut12. Chances of BLACKSWAN disbanding: 70-80%. Even with a catchy release, DR Music is a certified laughingstock in the industry13. The next 2nd generation girl group to return to the music scene might be Girl’s Day14. Another woo!ah! member (not counting Nana or Wooyeon) might have her acting debut15. One of the new planned NCT units might debut after NCT 127‘s comeback16. Chances of an OT5 ASTRO comeback in 2023: 40-60%17. Among the groups that debuted in 2016, the one at the highest risk of disbandment is MOMOLAND. However, in case they stay together, they would still leave MLD Entertainment and continue somewhere else18. The next album release by PIXY might sell 15k copies19. Another artist might join ATTRAKT20. An actor/actress or comedian might be exposed as facing debt21. Another merger between two or more companies22. A lyricist or producer known for working with a big group might have their singing debut soon23. NMIXX might persevere with their sound, and it might pay off on the long term24. An ex child or tween model might join an entertainment company and prepare to debut as an idol25. Another project group like SSAK3 or Refund Sisters26. A web drama production might cast up to 10 idols or idol actors27. Two or three Reborn Rich actors might be cast together in another drama production28. Chances of Our Blues having a sequel or, at least, a spin-off: 50%29. An idol might be named a brand ambassador for a well-known sports car brand30. A beloved BL drama might have a second or a third season31. I-LAND 2 might air as soon as Boys Planet is over32. Two ex CAP-TEEN contestants might debut together, possibly with someone from another survival show33. Chances of BTS members releasing solo music in the first half of 2023: Suga (Agust D) – 40%, V – 25%, Jungkook – 20%, Jimin – 10%, J-Hope (comeback) – 5%34. The next (G)I-DLE comeback might be a sort of continuation to Nxde35. Apart from the NCT units, SM Entertainment might launch a new girl group (possibly a female band)36. A nugu girl group might go viral for a dance cover of a BLACKPINK song37. Someone might open a café or a restaurant dedicated to a beloved idol or actor/actress38. More solo debuts from big groups (2nd, 3rd and even 4th generation)39. A popular actor or actress might make their debut as a film director40. A rookie boy group might add a new member41. A soloist might top international charts with their single42. A nugu group might be given an ultimatum: if their sales and views decrease with their next comeback, they might disband or members might be reshuffled43. An idol might make their acting comeback after years44. A big company might debut an idol of an underrepresented nationality45. KARA members might be in high demand after their big return. They might have a lot more schedules than they used to be until this point46. There might be strict measures against malicious comments directed to IVE47. An idol might be accused of plagiarism, but the one(s) to blame might actually be their producer(s) or visual director(s)48. Three or four companies might line up to sign Kep1er‘s Yujin (ex CLC)49. Another dance group might turn into an idol group50. An idol might throw a huge party for their friend(s); Dispatch, however, might leak unauthorized, unofficial pictures of the eventNote: These are only my own predictions.
